Volk Gallery is proud to present the work of Feminist Bird Club Dundee. Each Volk artist is given a size limit and budget and left to their own devices. With this brief, the group has produced a club membership pack. Each one includes a newly produced map, featuring local recommendations for bird and wildlife watching spots. The map is quite simply designed to signpost you to new places, encouraging a greater appreciation of the amazing diversity of wildlife accessible in our local area. Artist's Statement
Feminist Bird Club Dundee is an inclusive club that anyone who believes in an equal society is welcome to join! You do not need to be an expert on birds or wildlife, or have any kit, just a curiosity for our shared environment and an interest in social justice. We learn from each other! Through meet ups, walks, conservation activities, discussion and more, we want to make birding and the outdoors inclusive and affirming to people who may not have safe access to it. We are a local chapter of Feminist Bird Clubs which are located all around the world!
Our events are open to everyone, and we are especially keen to provide space for people from LGBTQIA+, global majority, disabled, neurodivergent and working class communities. Our feminism is intersectional and we know that work for climate and social justice needs to go hand in hand. We believe in birding with respect for all and we are keen to collaborate and grow our group!
